a question of sorts.

Hello! And please, before I continue, I just want to say that I have read the rules and I think I'm good but if any of you guys find this post off-topic, please, feel free to delete it. I'm not here to bug anyone-I'm just looking for a bit of help. ^_^

I have sort of an odd question. My girlfriend and I are writing a story together but we're at a bit of a loss. We don't quite know what to do and, no matter how much research we conduct or how much aid we seek, we can't figure out what to do. So... a little back story first?

Our story is about a guy, Sean, who suffers from DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). He witnesses a traumatic experience when he's seven years old and two personalities come into being, Psychic!Shawn and a man by the name of Cody. I don't want to give too much away or reveal too much because we do hope to publish this one day, but, through an odd course of events, Cody becomes a real being (parallel dimensions, mirrors, the whole nine yards) and we come to realize that Psychic!Shawn, who has claimed to be a good guy all the while, is actually a demon by the name of Joshua. And that Sean doesn't suffer from DID, but that Joshua is actually a spirit and "attached" himself to Sean. Joshua creates a hole in Sean's aura and keeps dragging in lost souls from the same dimension that Cody was in because, ultimately, he wants Sean dead and he wants his body.

So, that's the gist of it all.

Anyway, my question to you all, Joshua is very strong. Incredibly strong. We've enlisted the help of a witch but she's at a loss and even though we've read the depossesion process, my girlfriend and I are at a loss. Basically you're supposed to sit down with the demon and talk them into leaving but every time my girlfriend and I try (and every time our characters try), Joshua just laughs in our faces. Another character, Kelsey, can read colors and auras but he's not a magic man and is at a loss as well. So... what should my girlfriend and I do? How do you get rid of an incredibly strong demon without killing the innocent body it's inside of? Every time we look this up, we find nothing. And I believe we're tying to stay away from an exorcism-we're looking to remove it through depossession. Oh, and if it makes any difference, Sean is an Atheist and has no religious beliefs whatsoever.

So, what do you guys think? What are some other ways to get rid of a strong, angry demon?

Thank you for any and all help!

Wow... Okay, I suffer from D.I.D. and my mind also splintered into two personalities. So that's what caught my eye about this post.
Now, if you created a demon for your book then he's only as strong as your make him, if you conjured a demon (Unlikely but its what it sounds like from your post) Depossesions rarely work, and if you want to stick with the DID concept you need to combine the skillsets of the personalties and eliminate teh factor for which they were born.

Speaking with a demon is usually a bad idea, just because they find it hillarious and like screwing with humans. From the Sci-fi aspect you're going to have to deal with religion, especially if you dont want to just kill the vessel/catalyst.

Try tricking the demon, or beating him at his own game in some way.
interesting story idea
